There are questions humanity was never supposed to ask. Can a $35 hot dog beat a $1.50 Costco dog? Well, somebody had to find out. So we brought three contestants to the table: a Costco classic, a giant Japanese-inspired dog, and a $35 caviar hot dog because apparently we have officially lost the plot.
Round 1: The $1.50 Costco Dog
First up: Costco. $1.50. No caviar, no gold flakes, no nonsense. Just a hot dog that knows exactly what it came here to do.

And listen, this thing is hard to beat. Cheap, filling, salty, delicious. I’ve personally made trips to Costco where the groceries were basically an excuse to get the hot dog. The bar was already disrespectfully high.
Round 2: The $12 Japanese Hot Dog
Now we’re spending real money. $12 for a hot dog.

This thing was a whole foot long, looking like somebody accidentally ordered a Subway sandwich and decided to call it Japanese cuisine. They even brought out a fork and knife.
At first I thought, for a hot dog? Seriously? Then I saw the size and shut my mouth. This one actually looked GOOD, and the Japanese-inspired flavors gave Costco something to worry about.
Round 3: The $35 Caviar Hot Dog
Then somebody said, “Let’s put caviar on it.”

Brother. WHY?
Thirty-five dollars for a hot dog is already criminal behavior, but caviar? We’re gentrifying junk food now? And unfortunately, the first bite did not save it. The combination was so foul it made the $12 dog look like a five-star meal.
Expensive does not automatically mean delicious, people.
And the Winner Is…
After all that nonsense, the winner was…
THE $1.50 COSTCO DOG.
The cheapest hot dog walked in, did its job, collected the trophy, and went home. Meanwhile, the $35 caviar dog is somewhere wondering what it did to deserve this humiliation.
Sometimes you don’t need luxury ingredients. Sometimes you just need a $1.50 Costco dog and some peace.
Fancy food: 0.
Costco: 1.
